Latest cohort completes UM Group Induction Programme

Posted on 17 June, 2025

We welcomed our latest cohort of new starters to the UM Group Induction Programme last month.

Twice a year we hold inductions, an opportunity to inform new colleagues about the Group and its various activities, but also to socialise and spend quality time together.

The latest cohort consisted of:

  • Jess Robson, Customer Support Coordinator, GB Molasses
  • Tomasz Czerniak, Operator, Premier Molasses – Foynes
  • Yves Claus, Terminal Supervisor, Tameco – Belgium
  • Alice Murray, Commercial & Quality Support, Andean Life
  • Elisa Zini, Feed Sales & Technical, UM Italia
  • Tom Prior, Operator, UM Terminals – Gladstone
  • Jeremy Renwick, ITAS Consultant, Hivedome

As ever, the two-day event contained a packed schedule of presentations starting with a Welcome to UM Group from our CEO Ben Macer.

A big thank you to everyone else who led presentations including Rebecca Broughton-Lee (Environment, Health & Safety), Isabel Conde (Quality), Jason Marker (Shipping/Chartering), Adam Pierce (Business Intelligence), Shaun Smith (Finance), Stephen Garrett, Mark Few (GB Molasses), Andrew Creasey (Trading/Europe), Geraldine Carroll (Meta compliance/LMS/iTrent), Nigel Jones (Sustainability) and Vic Brodrick (UM Terminals).

In addition, one of our delegates, Elisa Zini, gave an insightful presentation on UM Italia.

Other highlights included a pre-booked View from the Shard session, something that was of particular interest to those who had never been to London before and witnessed The Shard (located 800 feet above ground on the 72nd floor of the city’s tallest building). Day one finished with a lovely dinner at the Oyster Shed on the River Thames, complete with more eye-catching view of the city.

Day two saw further presentations, but also some fun interactive Kahoot quizzes before the chance to raid the UM branded goods cupboard and completion of feedback forms before the delegates set off for home.

Geraldine, who has responsibility for organising the twice-yearly Group induction sessions, said: “The induction never disappoints, providing a chance for new members of the team to learn about the full extent of the Group’s activities as well as the opportunity to get to know each other and make new friends.

“Running the induction programme is one of my favourite parts of the job and something I always look forward to.”
